Nicolaitan Doctrine: Death In Disguise

The devil is not a grandmaster in chess, he is a great grandmaster and he is playing a multifaceted chess game with the people of this world. To some, he is playing the “I don’t exist gambit” and I think that is one of the greatest cons ever, I mean to convince the enemy you are a myth.

To some, he is playing the “I exist but not a bad person” watch some scenes of the series called lucifer and you might just start to pity the devil. The devil plays a lot of gambits depending on who he is playing it with and the one that currently has my utmost concern is the “Nicolaitan doctrine gambit”

Before I go further, I have an obligation to explain not as best as I can but as best as I see fit, the meaning of the Nicolaitan doctrine. Jude 4(Jude chapter 1 verse 4) gives us more than an insight into this type of doctrine. “For certain individuals whose condemnation was written about[a] long ago have secretly slipped in among you. They are ungodly people, who pervert the grace of our God into a license for immorality and deny Jesus Christ our only Sovereign and Lord.” Those that turned the grace of God into lasciviousness or sexual freedom, used grace as not just an excuse but also as justification for sin.

Like cancer affects the body, Nicolaitan doctrine affecting the church (body of Christ), it has not been separated from the church and it is spreading like the cancer that it is, and the target of the devil is the leaders of churches who will mislead their congregation, such should not be condoned in the church of God, God cannot allow such evil practises in his church. Revelation 2:16 “Repent; or else I will come unto you quickly, and will fight against them with the sword of my mouth.”

John Henry Blunt, Irenaeus (The Greek bishop), Victorinus of Pettau, Hippolytus, Clement of Alexandria and many other authors had different views about the Nicolaitan doctrine but one thing they all had in common was that it was birth out of giving an excuse to cover sin and what better excuse than unlimited grace.

I find it scary that leaders in some church have accepted this doctrine and renamed it “Love Of God” I know God loves the sinner but he hates sin, so why is it being preached that grace condons sins?

A get out of jail free card when the preachers are eventually caught of their secret or perhaps the devil has manipulated the preachers, both conclusion to why they preach what they preach is scary “John 12:40, NIV: He has blinded their eyes and hardened their hearts, so they can neither see with their eyes, nor understand with their hearts, nor turn — and I would heal them.” The unblinded, the ones with the heart of flesh should pray that God heals them(blinded and hardened hearts), that God opens their eyes, and that God replaces their heart of stone with that of flesh.

If you are in a church that preaches that because you are saved by grace, then you can live anyhow you want, a church that preaches you can do with your body all you want because God sees the heart. you should RUN! Shall we then continue in sin that grace may abound? Paul replied “God forbid” (Romans 6:2). Do not misuse your freedom in Christ because you are in this world but you are not of this world.

Knowing the right way is not enough, choosing the right way is also not enough, walking in the right way is what is important, it is simply striving to be like Christ, grace would help attain that but will not be an excuse to not walk in Christ (the right way, the only way to God).

Just in case you have forgotten, remember that Obedience is better than sacrifice so obey the laws of God

What the bible says about Nicolaitans;

Revelation 2:6 “But this you have, that you hatest the deeds of the Nicolaitans, which I also hate.”

Revelation 2:15 “So have you also them that hold the doctrine of the Nicolaitans, which thing I hate.”

The question you must ask yourself is this “Am I turning the grace of God into lasciviousness?” whatever your answer is, never forget Nicolaitan Doctrine is bad, it is Destruction In Disguise. Proverbs 14:12: There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death. Nicolaitan Doctrine is death in disguise.
